INTERNET AWARENESS

Library conducted a free Internet Awareness program for the Co-Operative College students of Kolenchery on 25/10/2013 .This is our first extension activity and it was a great success. We conducted this programme to eradicate computer illiteracy among college students.

To promote reading habits in younger generation library organized a library visit for the school students of St.Peter’s Higher Secondary School during every year.

Library organized a Quiz Program for selected CBSE school students Ernakulam District on 19/07/2013.Students from CBSE schools such as B.T.C Public school, Puthencruz, St.Paul’s Bethany School,Kolenchery , St.Peter’s Senior Scondary Kadayirippu etc. were participated in this programme.All students were very competitive.Among them Geevarghese Shibu & Karthik Prabhakar Team got 1st prize and Thomas Biju & Athul Nath Team (both from St.Peter’s Senior Scondary Kadayirippu 2nd prize respectively.

Library organized a seminar for KUDUMBASREE members of Poothrikka Panchayath on 07/06/2014 about online services of Kerala Government. It was a successful Information Literacy Program for the Women Society. This Programme was inaugurated by Poothrikka Panchayth President. This helps to make awareness about the online facilities available in government offices to the uneducated and illiterate women society of Kunnathnadu Taluk.

Library conducted a Personality Development Program for school teachers on 22nd November, 2014 in association with Library and Information Science department. About fifty school teachers were participated in this programme. They demanded us to conduct more such programmes . We selected the school teachers as a special category, since they are playing an important role in shaping their student’s character.

Library collected medicinal plants and distributed them on World Environmental Day in various colonies of Poothrikka Panchayath in association Library science Department on June 5th, 2015.

St.Peter’s College Library and Dept. of Library and Information Science organized a visit to St.John’s Childrens Home, Mariapuram, at Idukki District on 1st November, 2014.In the morning session we arranged a film show “Manjadikkuru”(children’s movie) for the children. After that our team visited a tribal colony ‘Mannaar ‘(colony of special tribal group called ‘Mannaanmar’) at Kanjikkuzhy there with Scheduled Tribe promoters of Kerala Government and distributed good amount of provisions and study materials to the inmates of children’s home.The output of the program brought about immense pleasure in the members of the children’s home. From their feedback we happened to know that our visit helped them to get an effective guidance and clearance on their educational queries.
